Beneath the Skin | My First Art Show!
In blogging land it’s a common thing to write down New Year’s Resolutions close to Silvester. Usually, I’d laugh about the idea of making resolutions but for the sake of keeping up with the trend, I wrote mine down. On my list, it says that I want to have an ‘actual art show’ – whatever that means.
I had this idea brewing in my head for a while and teamed up with the awesome illustrator Jacqueline Kaulfersch to plan a show. When things got serious, we settled on the title ‘Unter die Haut’ (Beneath the Skin). I used the creative work to process all the highlights and low points of my last year. I guess I’ve used the art to come to terms with all the change that occurred and I feel calmer than I’ve felt in a long time.
Last week, it was finally time to reveal what we’ve been working on for the past couple of months at a new artsy coffee shop. The owner was generous enough to let us do whatever we wanted. It was a stressful day but in the end, it was all worth it. All I have left to say is thank you for showing up and being interested – I attached some photos of the event below. Our artwork will be hanging at café vergissmeinnicht (Griesgasse 26, 8020 Graz, Tuesday–Friday from 11 AM till 7 PM) until October 18th.

Great art! I love the paintings with the “stitching” running through it (I don’t know how else to describe it). I envy you and your painting. It’s not easy, but it is rewarding. The art show is long over now, I’m just now coming to visit. How did it go?

Wow thanks a lot for the kind feedback! I say the show was a success but I barely sold more than what I spent on materials 🙈
So you’re visiting Austria? That’s amazing! I am currently not in Austria but if you’re interested you can visit my parents where the paintings are hanging now 😉
