Landmine [Poem]

goodbye after a whirlwind heist
always just one day at a time
see you soon casually
your recurring nightmare searching me
how long can you live the fantasy?
we never win if you don’t fight
become my ride or die
your declaration of love
a bouquet of sweet nothings
is anything enough?
burning bright fading quickly
longing to feel free again
cracks on layers of ice
standing on melting ground
who else believed your lies?
trivial honeymoon discussions
there’s nothing to break up
regret and rewind and
my dumb dumb heart won’t stop
clear sight of what was always there
ventilate the gaslit air
a surface for your projection tells
everybody is somebody’s monster
how many are you?
